The Carving Quilt Project 2008
This carved quilt was a project done by the members of the Thunder Bay Carvers club to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the club.  It was completed in October 2008.  The legend gives the title of each panel and the person who carved it   Our theme was 'things related to Thunder Bay' so the quilt includes many of our famous landmarks.  Thunder Bay is located on the north western shore of Lake Superior so many of the tiles have a wilderness or water theme to them.

There are 41 tiles and the quilt is 3 feet by 5 feet.  It weighs 28 pounds.  The smaller tiles are 6" x 6".  All tiles are basswood with local black ash mullions between them.  It was finished with a spray of Varathane so as to protect the wood yet show it's natural colors.  You can see a closeup of each tile by going to the individual tile pages (14 pages in total).

It is currently on display at the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium.
